Annual FEST Conference in Stockholm
22 – 25 June 2026
Dear Storytelling Friends!
The Federation for European Storytelling (FEST) and Berättarnätet Öst (BNÖ) in Sweden are delighted to invite the international storytelling community to the 2026 FEST conference in Stockholm. BNÖ is organizing the conference in collaboration with ALBA Sverige, Vargkatten produktion and Musikteater Unna.
– Below you can find all information on the conference & the link to the registration form. Don’t wait too long to register and book! Time is crucial for cheap flight and accommodation rates.
– You can also find links to hotels and hostels, close to the conference venue.
Accommodation can be rather expensive in Stockholm. To give as many candidates as possible the opportunity to join the conference we also looked for cheaper accommodation and for possibilities to share a room.
– The conference programme will include presentations and workshops and a welcome diner in the Stockholm City Hall (Nobel prize)! It will be refined after receiving the workshop proposals from the candidates (the call for expertise deadline is 31 January).
– Please also check the programme of the Stockholm International Storytelling Festival! (attached)
Have a look and pass on this information to the members of your organisation and to all storytelling lovers you know!

Stockholm international storytelling festival
25-27/6 2026
Festival poster attached!
Directly after FEST’s annual conference there will be a remarkable international storytelling festival in Stockholm. BNÖ with partners cooperate with the City Museum and the Etnographical museum in Stockholm where the festival will take place. Some performances will also be outside under the open sky at a magical courtyard at Mäster Olofsgården in the Old Town.
You, as a FEST-participant, will have the opportunity to conttribute with your storytelling skills. Together we will fill the museums with stories under the festival. There will be pop-up storytelling and story concerts under certain themes. More info will soon arrive but you can count on myth storytelling at the Ethnigraphical museum and city stories from all over the world at the City museum. You will also have the chance to experience the following during the festival:
• Stories in the dark. Enter a room in total darkness and listen to heartbreaking stories.
• Midnight sun stories, in the land where the stories and the people never sleep.
• International Myth-Off. The norse mythology is challenged by powerful, international mythologies in an entertaining competition.
• Open stage tellings for all ages.
• Pop-up storytelling and story concerts at the two museums with city stories and myths from all over the world. FEST participants are welcome to contribute! More info to come.
• Soup-storytelling. Food and stories, what can go wrong?
• Workshops for young people. Workshops on music and storytelling.
• Performances from some of the most renown storytellers in the world. Fidaa Ataya from Palestine. Abbi Patrix from France. Emily and Nick Hennessey from Great Britain. And many, many more storytellers.
And the best part: more storytellers and more activities is TBA in a near future….
